2013 Museum 'The Gravels' Shiraz Viognier
A complex aromatic mix of spice and florals with dark berry fruit integrated well with savoury oak. An opulent and expressive cool climate Shiraz - Medium bodied yet powerfully concentrated with dark berry fruits and wonderful spice. Supple tannins and fine acidity provide great structure and balance.
AWARDS
GOLD - Limestone Coast Wine Show 2017
Silver - Shanghai International Wine Challenge 2017
2016 AUSTRALIAN WINE COMPANION - James Halliday
A 95/5% co-fermented blend, 18-20 day ferment/maceration, 12 months maturation in French oak. Bright crimson; the impact of the extended maceration is very obvious, slightly at odds with the perfumed bouquet. If it had been fined, all the charms of the fruit flavours would have had more influence on the outcome. There is every chance time will achieve this result.
Museum Tasting Note
"Thirteen years in and this one has settled beautifully. The perfumed spice and floral lift are still there, now joined by softer, more savoury notes as the dark berry fruit has mellowed with age. Medium bodied but still concentrated, with supple tannins and fine acidity carrying real structure through the finish. A Gold medal wine that's only grown more interesting with time."
"Thirteen years from a single Wrattonbully block, only just hitting its stride. Pour it for the meal that deserves something with a bit of history in the glass."
