We believe that all great wines begin in the vineyard. By owning, planting, farming and harvesting our own carefully selected vineyards we can tailor our viticultural practices to ensure we consistently bring in the best fruit by vineyard. by varietal, by block / row for each of our wine tiers.
Although Pepper Tree is based in the Hunter Valley we have over the years acquired vineyards in Orange, Wrattonbully and Coonawarra to enable our winemaker to produce varietal wines that either do not grow as well in the Hunter Valley or are different expressions of a particular varietal that we wanted to offer connoisseurs of fine wine.
The Davis family vineyards total 160 hectares: 28 at Tallavera Grove in Mount View - Hunter Valley, 90 at Wrattonbully in South Australia (40k's north of Coonawarra), 30 at Orange in Central NSW and 12 at Coonawarra in South Australia - Limestone Coast. Pepper Tree also takes Shiraz grapes from the very old vines of the Tallawanta vineyard planted in 1920's and Semillon from Ken Bray's outstanding Braemore vineyard.
